Fighting for People with Catastrophic Injuries

Unlike other injuries, catastrophic injuries aren't defined by a part of the body or how the accident occurred. Instead, catastrophic injuries are defined by their effect on your body, your mind, and your independence. Legally, an injury is catastrophic if it impedes your cognition or mobility in the long term.

Catastrophic injuries include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Permanent brain damage
  • Paralysis
  • Amputated limbs
  • Neck and back injuries
  • Severe burn injuries
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Toxic exposure
  • Fractured bones

Many of our past clients came to us because their catastrophic injury rendered them or a spouse unable to work—while requiring vast amounts of spending on doctors, check-ups, and specialists. For them, our job was figuring out exactly how much their injury would cost them for the rest of their lives, then holding the at-fault party accountable for that amount. Our results not only changed our clients' lives, but it changed the lives of their spouses and their children too. By providing for their medical needs in the present and future, we were able to help families rebuild their lives and face the future with hope. That's why people call Arnold & Itkin.

What Damages Can I Recover?

Catastrophic injuries, along with the loss of a loved one, are extraordinarily difficult. Families going through this challenging moment are entitled to seek compensation for their loss. Monetary compensation won't change what happened, but it can help a family find a financial path forward after experiencing the unthinkable.

Here are the three general types of compensations for personal injury and wrongful death claims:

  • Economic Damages - Individuals have the right to receive compensation for the expenses related to the injury or death. This can include medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages, and more.
  • Non-Economic Damages – Individuals can also be compensated for the pain, suffering, and mental anguish. Non-economic damages also include loss of inheritance and loss of consortium.
  • Punitive Damages - In some cases, individuals can receive additional compensation as a form of punishment for the defendant in the case. This occurs when there is gross negligence.

How Much Does Hiring a Personal Lawyer in Beaumont Cost?

Our Beaumont Wrongful Death Lawyers Are Here to Help Grieving Families

Wrongful death claims allow family members to seek compensation if another party's negligence was the cause of their loved one's death. However, a wrongful death claim does not cover all deaths caused by another.

Below are some examples of what can qualify for a wrongful death claim:

  • Crane accidents from unsafe construction operations
  • Car crashes caused by drunk or distracted driving
  • Workplace accidents caused by a lack of training or supervision
  • Assaults, murders, or other criminal actions on commercial premises
  • When a doctor fails to identify or treat an ailment properly (medical malpractice)
  • Drowning accidents that should have been prevented by property owners
  • Defective products or drugs that cause the consumer's death

Losing a loved one is one of the most challenging experiences a person can face, especially when death could have been prevented. If you have lost someone you love, you can seek guidance from a Beaumont wrongful death attorney to pursue compensation for your loss. The legal team at Arnold & Itkin serves clients throughout Texas, and we can help you through this challenging time. We understand what you are going through, and our wrongful death lawyers consider it our responsibility to make sure you have a path forward.

About Beaumont, TX

Beaumont is a city located in southeast Texas on the Neches River. It is the seat of Jefferson County and, as of 2020, had a population of 115,282 residents. Beaumont’s roots can be traced back to 1824, when a man named Noah Tevis started a settlement called Tevis Bluff. 10 years later, Tevis sold 50 acres of his land to Henry Millard, who intended to build a town. The town would be named Beaumont, his wife’s family name. It was on December 16, 1838, that Beaumont officially became a town; farming and cattle were its earliest endeavors.

By the late 1800s, the economy in Beaumont was primarily based on lumber, rice, and shipping. 5 railroads ran through the area by the 1890s, but it was the 1901 explosion of the Lucas Gusher on Spindletop Hill that would turn Beaumont into a boomtown. In just 3 months, the town population soared from 9,000 to 30,000 people. Spindletop marked the first major oil discovery in Texas and helped make the United States a leader in the petroleum market.

Beaumont continued to grow. In 1916, a deep-river channel was completed, and Beaumont was positioned as a key port of the petrochemical industry. Today, Beaumont is home to oil refineries, shipbuilding facilities, grain storage centers, and rice-processing facilities, along with salt and sulfur domes. The city is widely recognized for the significant part it played – and continues to play – in the U.S. oil industry.

Beaumont is more than just a boomtown. It also has a rich history that can be explored at its many museums, such as the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum and the Texas Energy Museum, and historic buildings at the Beaumont Commercial District or on Crockett Street. Tourists and residents can enjoy a wide range of restaurants and kid-friendly activities, plus plenty of outdoor fun at the Beaumont Botanical Gardens or Tyrrell Park and Cattail Marsh. Beaumont is also home to Lamar University, which enrolls nearly 15,000 students.
