In 2016, we represented a young man harmed from taking Risperdal, a now-infamous antipsychotic. The medication, which is manufactured by global giant Johnson & Johnson, was only approved for use by adults when our client began taking it as a child. Shortly afterward, he developed female breast tissue in a condition known as gynecomastia, which is correctable only through surgery. Throughout our client’s childhood, he suffered intense humiliation as a result of his deformity. Our firm developed a case that held Johnson & Johnson and child company Janssen Pharmaceuticals accountable for withholding crucial information from prescribers and consumers. Johnson & Johnson vehemently denied responsibility, but the jury unanimously found them culpable for our client’s pain.
We are proud of the fact that the $76.6 million verdict is the largest single plaintiff verdict awarded for Risperdal injuries. In fact, no other verdicts come close—our client won 20 times more than the previous 4 Risperdal awards combined.
