Indiana Drowning Accident Lawyers
Protecting the Victims of Catastrophic & Fatal Drowning Accidents Nationwide
Every year, thousands suffer from drowning throughout the United States—making drowning the fifth leading cause of unintentional injury death in the country. These incidents can occur when someone believes they are safe in their own backyard swimming pool or when they’re enjoying the numerous lakes and bodies of water throughout the U.S. However, regardless of where they occurred and what caused them, the fact remains that they usually could have been prevented. At Arnold & Itkin LLP, we are committed to helping individuals and families who’ve been affected by drowning accidents fight for answers and get the truth about what happened. If the incident was caused by the careless, reckless, or negligent behavior of another, we are committed to demanding justice—holding those parties accountable and fighting for fair compensation.
This passion for justice and dedication to our clients can be seen in the numerous victories that our law firm has achieved over the years. For example, we represented three widows of men who were lost at sea when the cargo ship El Faro sank. In that case, the mariners had simply been performing the duties of their job when the ship sailed into an oncoming hurricane. All 30+ people aboard the ship drowned and lost their lives. We were able to stand by these widows and help them get answers. Help them get justice. In the end, we were able to achieve confidential settlements for all three that will help them take care of themselves and their loved ones. If you would like to learn more, view our case results.
17 Drown Following Fatal Duck Boat Accident
17 people lost their lives after stormy weather caused a duck boat to capsize during a tour of Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri. The storm caused choppy water and winds hitting 65 mph. Of the 31 people who had been experiencing the tour, only 14 people survived (many of whom were seriously injured). In the aftermath, there has been increased scrutiny of the dangers of such vessels. The main concern has been the canopies. For nearly 20 years, advocates have been speaking out about the canopies, stating that they trap passengers when a boat accident occurs and make it difficult—if not impossible—to escape. Despite these concerns, and despite a history of fatal duck boat accidents, little action has been taken to remove them. Instead, the companies have done little to change the design of the boat from when they were first introduced.
