Arnold & Itkin LLP helped a Louisiana family fight against oil companies that abused their land for decades. Our firm was able to negotiate a $2.75 million settlement and a plan to clean up their land without taking the case to trial. Landowners in Southwest Louisiana had a gas processing plant on their land that was used by several big oil companies since the 1960's. After it was revealed that the land suffered contamination from hazardous materials improperly disposed of, Arnold & Itkin LLP became involved in their case.
The plaintiffs had no idea that the operations at the processing plant was contaminating their land and did not consent to any of the discharge and disposal of hazardous waste materials on their land. Environmental expert were brought to test the land. They found that the contamination was consistent with the hazardous materials produced as a result of the plant's operations. The experts were able to develop a plan to remediate the property from decades of damage. Attorneys Kurt Arnold and Kyle Findley brought the suit against the companies that used the processing plant for their operations and contributed to the contamination. As a result of their hard work, the case was settled out of court for $2.75 million.
