Our firm was proud to host the 2nd Annual RESPECT Contest on April 27, 2017. 5th grade students from Pasadena and Deer Park ISD were asked to participate by explaining in a few sentences what respect means to them and why it is important. They were also asked to include an illustration to complement their explanation.
After carefully reviewing the entries, our firm selected the top 3 submissions from each school district as our winners. The winners were then invited to a ceremony held at the Harris County Civil Courthouse. There, students were presented with their prizes. Each winner was awarded a small cash prize as well as a donation to their school and a charity of their choice.
Charitable donations on behalf of the winning students were made to the following organizations:
- St Jude’s Children Hospital ($1,850)
- Elephants for Africa ($1,000)
- Ima’s Home for Children ($500)
- The Houston Zoo: Saving Animals in the Wild Fund ($350)
Matching donations were also given to the following schools:
- Keller Middle School
- Melillo Middle School
- Carpenter Elementary
- Deer Park Elementary
