Case Filed Against Chevron for Refinery Explosion in Pascagoula

Arnold & Itkin has filed suit against Chevron Corporation and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. on behalf of five workers who were catastrophically injured in an explosion at the Pascagoula Refinery in Mississippi. This case is being brought against Chevron Corporation and its subsidiary, Chevron U.S.A. Inc.—both responsible for the ownership, operation, and oversight of the Pascagoula Refinery. Chevron was responsible for all work performed at the site, including safety protocols and the authorization of hazardous tasks.
On July 14, 2025, Chevron failed to properly monitor and purge flammable gases in a designated work area. Despite the clear danger, Chevron allowed—and even ordered—hot work to proceed. The result was a massive fire and explosion.
All five of our clients were working at the Pascagoula Refinery when Chevron’s negligence put their lives at risk.
The explosion caused them severe, life-altering injuries:
- Severe burns
- Physical trauma
- Emotional and psychological harm
- Loss of income
- Permanent pain and disability
Some of our clients may never work again. They continue to suffer daily from the consequences of that moment.
Refinery Explosions Are More Frequent Than Ever
Refinery explosions are some of the most dangerous industrial accidents in the country. Fires like this are preventable, coming from failures of leadership, planning, and care.
Our firm is fighting to get our clients the medical care, financial security, and long-term support they now need to rebuild their lives. We are also sending a clear message: no company, no matter how big, is above the law when it puts workers in harm’s way.
