Representing Woman Burned in Nevada Apartment Fire
Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Roland Christensen, Alec Paradowski, Daniel Moreno, Jonathan Mack, and Taylor Fox filed a case on behalf of a woman who was severely burned in an apartment fire in Nevada.
Our client was cooking in her apartment when a stove fire broke out. She immediately attempted to extinguish the flames using the fire extinguisher that her apartment complex had supplied and placed directly under the stove in her kitchen. However, the fire extinguisher provided by the apartment complex was not appropriate for kitchen fires, and instead of putting out the flames, the fire raged on. Our client suffered severe burns as a result.
Fire extinguishers are not all identical. There are different types designed for different classes of fires. By placing an inadequate fire extinguisher in the kitchen, directly under the stove, the apartment complex led our client to reasonably believe it was appropriate for kitchen fires. This was a dangerous and negligent choice that left our client without the proper tools to protect herself when disaster struck.
Apartment complexes have a legal obligation to protect their residents from hazards that can reasonably be anticipated. A kitchen fire is exactly the type of foreseeable risk that proper safety equipment should address. Our catastrophic injury lawyers at Arnold & Itkin have extensive experience handling cases involving fire codes and violations, and we will use that knowledge to fight for justice on behalf of our client.
