It was just crazy because you don’t ever expect to be in a plant explosion. I was a laborer. I was going to go get permits to work underground. I heard a loud whistle, so I went to check it out. The next thing you know, there’s a big bang. The plant blew up, and the fire was just coming straight at me. I fell to the ground, trying to get up, but it threw me back to the ground. Then I got up and ran. Then the plant exploded two more times.
After the explosion, I went to the company doctors, and they told me that there was nothing wrong with me. But I didn’t believe them. They were lying. It felt like I was hurt. The company doctors were pushing me to the side and not showing me that I was a person. It really hurt because I had almost died, and they didn’t care.
So, I went to my primary doctors, and they told me that the injuries I had sustained were a back injury, a knee injury, and mental. The company that I was working for, they didn’t care about my life.
My life didn’t mean anything. I had to get out of there and do something about it.
My coworker referred me to Arnold & Itkin. When I called Arnold & Itkin, they called me in right away. When I came in, we talked about what happened and they got to work. Working with the lawyers was really good. Any time I would call, they would answer. Any question I had, they had an answer for it. So, it’s not like they left me out to sit—they were actually helping me.
Overall, the staff, they were really kind and really helpful. I am really happy with the outcome. I feel like they really fought for me. In my case, Arnold & Itkin went up against a really big company, and they never backed down.
