Man Dead, Child Injured in Truck Accident on I-45

A fatal crash on the I-45 in north Harris County left a man dead and a child injured Thursday afternoon, August 4th. Just after 1:30 pm local time, two tires came off a semi-truck traveling southbound near Louetta; one hit a vehicle on the nearby service road, causing minor damage. The other tire crossed the median into northbound traffic and hit the windshield of a car, striking the driver and ripping the roof off.
The driver, a 32-year-old husband and father, died at the scene.
The man’s 11-year-old son was in the backseat of the vehicle, suffering minor physical injuries in the crash. The child was treated at the scene before being released to family members.
It was determined later that the two tires on the left-side middle axle of the truck came loose. Trucking companies have an obligation to inspect their vehicles and ensure they are safe and ready for use each and every time they start a new trip. This tragic accident is another example of why I-45 is considered to be the nation’s deadliest freeway.
Our hearts go out to the family of the father and child during this difficult time. Our truck accident lawyers are following the investigation of this incident closely.
