Construction Worker Killed at ExxonMobil Plant in Baytown

On Thursday afternoon, a construction worker was involved in a fatal accident at the ExxonMobil Olefins Plant in Baytown, Texas. Details of how the incident occurred have not been released. According to the Harris County Sherriff's Department, the incident occurred at 2:41pm. ExxonMobil called emergency crews to attend to the worker and are now investigating the cause of the accident.

Through its media advisor, Exxon Mobil Corporation released the following statement:

"We regret that a contractor was fatally injured in an incident at ExxonMobil's construction project at the Baytown Olefins Plant. The person involved was immediately attended to by emergency responders. We have notified the appropriate authorities and are working with them to investigate the cause of the incident.

We are greatly saddened by this and express our deepest sympathy to his family and his co-workers."

The construction worker was a contractor employed by Group, a sub-contract company performing construction work at the Olefins Plant.
