Firefighters responded to the scene and were able to rescue the injured workers from the bottom of the hole. They were both rushed by paramedics to a nearby hospital. While the full extent of the injuries were not immediately known, one worker was said to be having breathing problems and the other worker had suffered a severe head injury. Both workers were in their mid-twenties.
