Yesterday, we covered a pipeline explosion that occurred just outside of Midland, Texas. Initially, it was reported that five people were injured in the explosion. Today, details have emerged bumping the number of injured up to seven.
The incident occurred at a location where two pipelines, one owned by Kinder Morgan Inc and the other by Navitas Midstream Partners LLC, met. At this time, it is not known which pipe exploded first. However, it is suspected that flames from the initial blast caused the second line to explode.
Early reports indicate that workers from both companies were sent to the location to inspect a suspected gas leak and five were injured during the first explosion. Two firefighters were injured in the subsequent blasts. The victims were taken to a hospital in nearby Lubbock to treat their burn injuries. Officials reported that three were in serious condition and one remains in critical condition.
Our pipeline explosion lawyers are heartbroken to hear that even more people have suffered than initially thought. We are hoping that the injured recover and quickly receive answers for this accident.
