Arnold & Itkin is representing a young woman who is fighting to put an end to a long nightmare.
In 2014, our client and her boyfriend were at a shopping center when a security guard detained her. As a scare tactic, the guard threatened to charge our client with a sex crime if she didn't do what he wanted. He proceeded to sexually assault her. She was 16 at the time.
Click 2 Houston reported on the man's impending criminal trial and upcoming civil trial. "This is something that will be with her for the rest of her life," Jason Itkin said to reporters. Mr. Itkin went on to say that the man's record was not properly investigated by Allied Barton (the security company) and Midway Company didn't do enough to respond to complaints against his behavior at the shopping center.
"Midway had the right to say, 'this guy is creepy send him off our property,' and they never exercised that right despite some of the red flags that were raised," Mr. Itkin said.
The lawsuit seeks to hold the security company and shopping center accountable for negligent hiring practices. All we want is for our client and her family to have closure—closure that comes from seeing dangerous people and bad practices held accountable.
