On August 1, 2004, Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin opened the doors to their law firm in Houston. Their goal was simple: help injured people get the justice they need to rebuild their lives. At only 25 and 28 years old, they founded Arnold & Itkin LLP—which is now one of the premier injury law firms in the nation. 15 years ago, it was clear that Kurt and Jason were determined, hungry, and extremely gifted.
What wasn't clear was how far their firm would come in just a few years.
Since that time, Kurt and Jason have held BP and Transocean accountable for the harm caused by the Deepwater Horizon explosion. They have helped bring justice to Johnson & Johnson for injuring young boys left deformed by Risperdal. They won record-setting results for refinery workers caught in the 2005 Texas City explosion, the 2013 Geismar Williams Olefin explosion, and the 2016 Marathon Refinery fire.
They also won the largest single-injury verdict in Louisiana history for a young mother who was paralyzed in an ambulance accident and the largest individual settlement in Texas history. They likewise helped a businessman that was wronged in a business deal secured the largest verdict in Hawaii history. On top of these highlights, Kurt and Jason have gotten verdicts and settlements for thousands of people injured from motor vehicle crashes, defective products, maritime accidents, and more. Their work has resulted in multiple nation-wide recalls of defective products and improved working conditions across the country.
In 15 years, they've won more than $3 billion in verdicts and settlements, including over 400 verdicts and settlements in excess of $1 million.
A Growing Firm & Growing Reputation
Kurt and Jason's results immediately made an impression on the legal community. Within a few years, both of them were (and still are) recognized on lists like The National Law Journal "Elite Trial Lawyers," the Lawdragon "500 Leading Lawyers in America," the National Trial Lawyers "Top 100 Trial Lawyers," and other prestigious honors. Both Kurt and Jason also have the incredible honor of being included in the Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group of the top 100 plaintiff lawyers from all over the country.
Meanwhile, they grew their firm from a three-person operation into a law firm that employs nearly a hundred people—allowing them to help more injured people in Texas, Louisiana, and all over the nation. The firm’s desire to do good is not limited to the courtroom though. Arnold & Itkin values volunteering and fundraising for community organizations like Casa de Esperanza and the Monarch School. The firm eventually formed the Arnold & Itkin Foundation to support the well-being of our community through philanthropy.
Looking Back On 15 Years of Life-Changing Work
Our law firm is proud of all we've accomplished in the last several years: the lives we've changed, the safety regulations we've influenced, and the families we've helped. We're proud that our mission remains as simple and as vital as it was all those years ago: help injured people get back on their feet. But, more than that, we're thrilled when we think about how we're just getting started.
The first 15 years were just the beginning. For Arnold & Itkin, the best is yet to come.
