Representing Two Chevron Workers Exposed to H2S Gas
Arnold & Itkin attorneys filed suit against Chevron in Harris County, Texas on behalf of two injured workers who suffered serious injuries after being exposed to hydrogen sulfide gas during industrial operations. The exposure that harmed our clients was the result of safety failures that the energy industry has known how to prevent for decades.
We expect the evidence to reveal that Chevron failed to properly purge the equipment and failed to lock out and tag out before the work began. Our clients were instructed to cut into the equipment believing it had been safely isolated. It had not. Hazardous H2S gas was still present inside, and when the equipment was cut, that gas was released directly onto the workers performing the job.
Purging and lock-out/tag-out procedures exist for exactly this reason. They are not optional steps, and they are not difficult to follow. When an operator the size of Chevron skips them, workers are exposed to one of the most dangerous gases in the industry, a substance that can incapacitate or kill within seconds at high enough concentrations.
Our clients have suffered severe injuries and have required medical treatment as a result of this exposure. Our work injury attorneys are committed to holding Chevron fully accountable for the harm it caused and for the safety failures that caused it.
