A Texas worker suffered serious injuries while working on a blowout preventer on scaffolding at a Louisiana facility. Attorneys Kurt Arnold and Kyle Findley handled the case on behalf of the man, providing tough, aggressive representation every step of the way. As a result, they were able to recover a $1.4 million settlement.
The worker was injured when he was heading towards the ladder to exit the structure after finishing up the job. As he was descending, the railing designed to help keep the scaffolding secure gave way. The man fell 10 feet, landing on the concrete below. He suffered serious back and head injuries as a result of the incident and had to undergo treatment with orthopedic doctors, including back surgery.
Our attorneys filed suit in Harris County, claiming that the companies involved failed to effectively inspect and maintain the scaffold in question. While the defendants tried to point the blame towards our client for not having a safety harness on, we combated this by demonstrating that even with a safety harness, the man would have hit the ground and suffered the same injuries. More than that, we were able to show that the defendants clearly failed to identity the unsecured railing that was missing pins. Our attorneys successfully settled the case for the $1,400,000 just two weeks before the trial.
We are proud to have helped our client get compensation for the injury he received while contributing to Louisiana's industry and economic growth.
