Biography
Tyler Merkley grew up in Houston, Texas, with a drive to fight for others from a young age. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama with a major in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics.
Before attending law school, Tyler worked at Arnold & Itkin to deepen his legal knowledge by learning from and training under the best trial lawyers in the country. Even before stepping foot in a law school classroom, he had assisted with three full jury trials, resulting in one eight-figure settlement, one eight-figure verdict, and one nine-figure verdict. Tyler also attended and assisted with over 50 depositions, doing everything possible to help clients get the justice they deserve.
Tyler then attended the University of Texas School of Law, where he quickly distinguished himself in trial advocacy. In his second semester, he received the Best Advocate award in an advanced interscholastic mock trial competition, trying a case by himself against two third-year law students. The following year, Tyler received the Outstanding Advocate award at the Premiere Interscholastic Mock Trial Competition in Austin, Texas. In his first semester of his third year, he won the TEX-ABOTA Best in Texas Voir Dire Competition, beating out every law school in Texas by picking a jury of real Texas citizens and delivering the best opening statement. That same year, Tyler was named champion of the Texas Regional Division of the AAJ STAC National Mock Trial Competition. With these achievements, he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers and received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Art and Science of Advocacy.
At Arnold & Itkin, Tyler handles all types of catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. He continues to bring the same preparation, dedication, and competitive drive that defined his path to law, doing whatever it takes to fight for his clients, no matter what.
