Contract Worker Dies Following Accident at Sabine Pass LNG Facility in Cameron Parish

A contract worker has died following an accident at the Sabine Pass Liquefaction (SPL) facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, according to statements from Cheniere Energy and the Zachry Group.

The worker, employed by the Zachry Group, was injured at approximately 3:15 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the LNG facility, Cheniere told KFDM News. Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene, and the worker was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, where he later died. Cheniere stated that no other injuries were reported.

In a statement, the Zachry Group confirmed the death, describing the individual as a maintenance employee and extending condolences to the worker's family, friends, and coworkers. The company said it is supporting the ongoing investigation.

Cheniere said an investigation into the cause of the incident is underway. The worker's identity has not been released.

The Sabine Pass facility, operated by Cheniere Energy, is one of the largest LNG export terminals in the United States and is located in Cameron Parish along the Gulf Coast.
