Suit Filed Against Walmart for Overworked Employee's Back Injury

Arnold & Itkin attorneys have filed suit in Tarrant County against Walmart on behalf of an injured employee who suffered serious back injuries while performing physically demanding work. The injuries our client now lives with are the result of a company that not only asked one worker to do the job of several people, but also refused to give her the tools to do it safely.

We expect the evidence to reveal that Walmart failed to provide adequate assistance, equipment, and safe lifting procedures for employees required to handle heavy items on the job. Our client was repeatedly overworked and expected to perform heavy lifting without the manpower or the mechanical assistance any reasonable employer would provide for that kind of work.

The result was predictable. Our client's back gave out under the weight of demands no single worker should have been asked to meet, and her injuries have already necessitated surgery. Recovery from a serious back injury is a long road, and for a worker whose livelihood depends on his physical ability, the consequences extend far beyond the operating room.

Walmart has the resources to staff its stores properly and equip its workers with the tools they need. The decision to cut corners is a choice, and our work injury lawyers are committed to holding Walmart accountable for the harm that choice caused to our client.
