Pedro discusses an explosion that occurred at his work, what happened to him in the time after it, and how the trial attorneys at Arnold & Itkin were able to help him get the help he needed.
The chaos was bad.
I woke up to go to work, a normal day. We get there and we were not told that they were running some kind of chemicals through our line. As soon as we walked in, we were there when all that happened—the explosion, the truck blowing up. I honestly thought I was only going to see that in movies. It was really, really bad.
I remember before the explosion, there was one guy. I remember looking back when the explosion happened, and that guy was still there hanging, getting burned. That's one of the images that I can't get out of my head, is watching that man up there.
It was so bad that after everything happened that I fell and the only thing running through my mind at the minute was my kids because it was my weekend. My kids because I remember that day leaving the house, and they were sleeping in the living room. I remember them, seeing them asleep, and I was hoping, I was praying to God, let me get out of there safe and quick so I could see my kids again.
They started bringing ambulances from Deer Park, La Porte, Pasadena to help us out because there was a lot of people that got injured—a lot of people that got burned.
I still have neck pain, back pain. I still suffer from that day, and I really don't even want to imagine going back to a plant ever again in my life. I'm just scared. I mean, I still live with that to this day.
The reason that I came to get an attorney was because they told me that I didn't get hurt there, that I wasn't really hurt. They wanted me to sign a paper saying that in order for me to get a medical assistant, I had to sign a paper saying that I wasn't going to sue them. That's why I came to Arnold & Itkin to get help. And thank God, they were able to help me. They were able to help me and get me the help and attention I needed.
They were always there. I mean, anything I needed, they were just a phone call anyway. It didn’t matter what time it was. If it was the holidays, they still answered the phones, and get me the help I needed.
The settlement, I mean, I'm still shocked. I'm happy. I'm shocked. I'm really happy for what Arnold & Itkin did. Nobody could give me the answers that Arnold & Itkin did. They were straight up with me since the beginning and everything came out perfect.
