AI Representing 2 Mechanics Injured in Garyville, LA Marathon Plant Explosion

Arnold & Itkin has filed suit on behalf of two mechanics who were injured in yet another explosion at the Marathon Petroleum plant in Garyville, Louisiana.

Our clients, both mechanics employed by Specialty Welding and Turnarounds, sustained serious injuries when a fire and explosion rocked the Marathon plant on the morning of February 21, 2022. The blast was so powerful that people in nearby communities felt the shockwaves. At least six workers were injured in the incident: three were treated onsite and three were transported to local hospitals. Our clients are suffering from trauma that includes post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), headaches, and back, wrist, and arm injuries. In addition to working as mechanics, both of our clients are fathers and husbands. They are now facing uncertain futures as they attempt to provide for their families while trying to heal.

Attorney Noah Wexler filed suit in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana on behalf of our clients. "It is horrifying to see an industrial plant suddenly go up in flames, risking serious injury and even death to the persons who work there and count on the owners to keep them safe,” he said. “The explosion at the Marathon Plant in Garyville, Louisiana is the latest example of a disturbing trend of companies utterly failing to make their plants safe for the people working there. Arnold & Itkin will fight to hold those involved responsible as part of its ongoing battle against negligent plant owners and operators."

Named defendants in the lawsuit: Marathon Petroleum Company, LP; MPC Investment LLC; Total Safety U.S., Inc.; Onpoint Industrial Services, LLC; Turner Specialty Services, LLC; Turner Industries Energy Services, LLC; and Turner Industries Group, LLC.

Our Louisiana plant accident firm has a reputation for aggressively prosecuting claims against plant owners and operators for failing to prevent fires, explosions, and other catastrophic events that injure workers and endanger communities. We will fight to get our clients the answers and compensation they deserve after this horrific incident.
