Arnold & Itkin Secures $193M for Two Offshore Workers

Arnold & Itkin has secured a $193 million settlement for two offshore workers harmed in a pipeline explosion. The families of both workers turned to our firm to get justice against their employer, whose negligence led to the explosion. Though one of the workers tragically succumbed to his injuries, we put every resource we had into ensuring our clients received the best possible care and support while pursuing justice for their families.

Pipeline explosion cases rarely have a single cause; they’re typically the result of numerous poor policies and cut corners, compounded over the years—even decades. For this reason, soon after being hired, we quickly mobilized our team to investigate the incident, collect evidence, and take depositions from key witnesses.

This case had unique obstacles to overcome due to the complexities of maritime law. Still, our proven team of offshore injury attorneys navigated their way to a successful resolution. The critical aspect of our success was our aggressive push to bring the case before a jury. In general, companies want to avoid juries at all costs. Our track record shows how costly it can be for defendants to face us in open court. When the defendant companies saw that we were ready to take them to trial, they agreed to pay a historic nine-figure settlement rather than risk facing a jury verdict. As a result, our clients’ families will have what they need for generations.

Cases like these are why we became maritime lawyers. We were proud to get such an incredible result for our clients, who can now focus on their future without fear or anxiety.
