Suit Filed for Ladder Failure That Led to Chemical Burns at Lake Charles Plant

Led by attorney Trent Shelton, the legal team at Arnold & Itkin has filed suit against Westlake Corporation (formerly known as Westlake Chemical Corporation); Westlake Chemical Energy LLC; and Westlake Chemical OpCo LP for an industrial workplace injury that occurred around June 9, 2026, at their plant in Lake Charles, LA.

Our client was recoating nozzles on a pipe when he climbed a ladder to inspect his work. The ladder suddenly detached, causing chemicals to spill on him. Our client suffered chemical burns to his left arm as well as injuries to his knee and lower back, among other injuries.

Industrial plants that require workers to use ladders and other equipment, especially when they must do so around hazardous chemicals, have a responsibility to ensure that the equipment is properly secured and maintained. Our client is dealing with painful injuries, costly medical care, and a considerable road to recovery because of an accident that basic inspections and maintenance by the defendants could have prevented.

The work injury lawyers at Arnold & Itkin are committed to pursuing justice on behalf of our client by seeking fair compensation and full accountability from the negligent corporations responsible for our client’s injuries.

This case was filed in Harris County, Texas.
