Jason Itkin Named 2027 “Lawyer of the Year” for Admiralty & Maritime Law
Arnold & Itkin LLP is proud to announce that Best Lawyers® has named founding partner Jason Itkin the 2027 Lawyer of the Year in Houston for Admiralty and Maritime Law. Only one lawyer per practice area, per region, receives this distinction each year, chosen entirely through the confidential feedback of other attorneys in the field.
Jason has argued some of the largest cases in the country, winning an $8 billion verdict against Johnson & Johnson, a $2.25 billion verdict against Monsanto, an $860 million wrongful death verdict after a fatal crane accident in Texas, and a $175 million verdict for a Roundup cancer victim. He has also secured a $117 million verdict in Louisiana and a $100 million personal injury verdict, building a career on landing some of the largest results in the country in front of a jury.
Jason’s success at trial has translated directly into leverage at the negotiating table. After the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, more of the injured workers turned to Jason than to any other lawyer to handle their cases. His negotiated results include a $171 million confidential settlement, a $110 million settlement for victims of defective products, and a $98 million settlement secured alongside Kurt Arnold on behalf of several families. In the last 12 months alone, Jason’s verdicts and settlements for his clients have totaled more than $3.5 billion, and more than 200 different law firms have hired him as trial counsel on their own cases.
Jason was invited to join the Inner Circle of Advocates before the age of 40, making him the group’s youngest member. He has since been elected president of the organization, a role in which he helps guide the country’s top 100 plaintiff trial lawyers. Jason has also been named to Lawdragon’s list of 500 Leading Lawyers in America and its Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers list, and the National Law Journal has included him among its Top 100 Verdicts nationally.
This 2027 "Lawyer of the Year" recognition caps more than 20 years of courtroom work in maritime and complex litigation on behalf of injured clients across Houston and the country. It's a testament to the standard Arnold & Itkin sets for every case the firm takes on.
