Case Filed Against Lowe's After Customer Struck by Falling Door
Arnold & Itkin attorneys have filed suit in Polk County against Lowe's after a customer suffered serious injuries when a door was improperly lowered and struck him inside the store. What should have been an ordinary trip to a home improvement retailer turned into a painful and avoidable injury because of how Lowe's employees handled their work.
Based on what we know, Lowe's employees were moving a door in a way that was not safe for customers in the surrounding area. The door was put down unexpectedly, without warning, and without the care that handling heavy merchandise demands. Our client had no chance to react, and the impact left him with severe injuries.
Big-box retailers like Lowe's have a clear responsibility to keep their stores safe for the customers they invite through their doors every day. That responsibility includes training employees on how to handle and transport heavy items, maintaining safe practices on the sales floor, and warning customers when work is being done that could put them at risk. Lowe's failed on every front here.
Our premises liability attorneys look forward to holding Lowe's accountable for exposing a paying customer to preventable danger and for the serious harm that followed.
